在天文学裡，合相是指从一个特定天体（例如地球）观察到两个天体在天空上的位置非常靠近。合相發生的时候这两个被观察的天体的位置有相同的赤经或黄经。而「大合相」就是指木星和土星的合相，被冠名为「大」是因为木星合土星是至今最罕见的目视行星合相。2020年12月，香港的上空便出现了一次罕见的大合相，这次大合相从地球看上天空中的木星和土星的距离十分接近，只有6.1角分，而上一次两颗星体距离少于10角分的大合相已经要追溯至1623年…
